Founder of Vignadores de Carignan, a unique association of producers that reinvented a viticultural tradition of 5 centuries in Maule Valley. He doesn’t believe in scores. “They’re fuckin’ stupid”, claims. He and his brilliant collaborators are always seeking for character and identity. Their goal is to rescue and put in value wines, spirits and food treasures from forgotten corners of the world.
Many years ago I kept an eye on this old vineyard, but I got distracted writing and someone went ahead. In a gentle hillside located in the outskirts of Guarilihue (Itata Profundo), where several grape varieties are confused, even some of them still unidentified, the winemaker Camilo Viani selects Riesling grapes and, wow, makes this beautiful wine with notes of citrus fruits, peaches and white pepper.
