Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino (Artic Monkeys)

by | 22 Jul, 2020

It is not the album that fans of Artic Monkeys awaited. Maybe that’s why I like it a lot. It does not have the stridency or density of its guitars. It could have been a solo album by Alex Turner, after receiving a piano for his birthday. However, it is a strange, unitary work, with nods to the black cinema of the 60s. A retro and futuristic work, nostalgic and intimate, with the celebrated Turner falsettos, which feel more genuine than ever.

Play it with a young red like a Carmenère without aging in barrels. It’s just enough silky and sweet. It will embrace Turner’s high notes.
